On March 23, North Carolina passed House Bill 2, a law that forces transgender people to use the bathrooms of the gender on their birth certificates, and essentially prevents North Carolina cities from passing measures to protect LGBT people. In the wake of the passage of this controversial law, XHamster, one of the Internet's largest porn sites, has canceled all service to North Carolina residents as of Monday, 12:30 pm, EDT, and they say service won't be restored until the state repeals the law.

Right now, all residents of the state will see if they go to the website is a black screen. Not even a sexy black screen. No porn at all. According to Mike Kulich, a spokesperson for the site, that screen will soon be replaced with a petition demanding the repeal of the law. And not even a sexy petition. Kulich issued the following statement to the Huffington Post

We have spent the last 50 years fighting for equality for everyone and these laws are discriminatory which XHamster.com does not tolerate. Judging by the stats of what you North Carolinians watch, we feel this punishment is a severe one. We will not standby and pump revenue into a system that promotes this type of garbage. We respect all sexualities and embrace them.

HB2 make it dangerous for some transgender people to use a public bathroom.

Those stats mentioned in the statement? According to Kulich, there were 400,000 hits for the term "Transsexual" and almost 320,000 searches for the word "gay" in March from North Carolina.

Xhamster's not the first one to cancel stuff in North Carolina; Bruce Springsteen canceled his April 10 show in Greensboro because of House Bill 2. But Mike Kulich is optimistic that the cancelation of porn will do the trick, telling the Huffington Post, “I think that porn has the power to do what Bruce Springsteen can’t."
