Teachers are underpaid, overworked and have the patience of saints.

They put up with a lot between misbehaving children and teenagers, overbearing parents, state curriculum requirements and standardized testing. They nurture future generations and oftentimes see children more than their own parents do.

A good teacher is a person you'll remember forever. I'll never forget the English teacher who moved my desk outside when I fell asleep during class...

Sometimes though, even the kindest, most caring, and understanding of teachers need to vent. When a recent Reddit user asked, "Teachers of Reddit, what was your 'how are my students this dumb?' moment?' teachers everywhere were ready to dish. Sorry kids, there actually is such a thing as a dumb question.

1. Guess again, "SnapesDrapes."

Me: I’m thinking of a fruit that is yellow and very sour! Student: Chickenpox!

2. Yup! It matters! "Happy_Birthday_2_Me."

One of my 16 year old students asked, while starting a multiple choice test, if it mattered what letter he chose. I just stared at him. Sometimes there are no words.
