While we try to prepare children for some important things about adult life in school, most of the lessons about navigating the world are trial by fire.

Paying taxes, saving money, finding an apartment, job interviews skills, conflict resolution, forcing yourself to be a morning person, finding time to go to the gym, managing your schedule, meal prepping--adulthood is about a lot more than just going to the dentist and going to bed whenever you want to. Sure, it's never fun to be the oldest person at the party bumming out the younger generations by the beer table by explaining how health insurance works, sometimes it's necessary to be the bitter bearer of bad news. There are always lessons people have to learn on their own, but a fair warning never hurts.
