Even the most idiotic ideas can feel brilliant and boundary-breaking at the time. In a moment of inspiration, putting your body in immediate danger with no actual pay off might seem like a transcendent aim, or in the very least, a cool stunt.

It's only through the gaze of 20/20 hindsight that we can reckon with just how stupid our decisions can be, and through that gaze, we can also appreciate just how funny it is to be a ridiculous flesh bag waddling through the earth trying stuff out. Regardless of how low you've stooped in your ideations, one thing is for sure - you're not alone.

In a popular Ask Reddit thread, people shared their stories that "seemed like a good idea at the time" but ended up very, very poorly.

1. From meta_uprising:

2. From windam1992:

I let my 14-year-old cousin at the time try driving the family car. I was like 18 back then or 20 and I told him it's easy to drive an automatic car, basically like driving a go-kart. Told him gas was right and brakes were center.
