Privilege is one of those things that is tremendously easy to see from the outside, but easy to miss when you're the one benefitting from it. If you've grown up with certain types of ease or access, it's all too easy to forget that lots of people don't have that experience. The disconnect between our internal, often invisible (to ourselves) relationship with our own privilege, and other people's easy view of it can cause a lot of conflict on all sides.
But, it's healthy and helpful to reflect on the things we see others benefit from, as well as the stratifications we benefit from ourselves. Looking at these different lines of access can help us imagine ways to bridge the gaps and make the world a bit less unfair.
