Transferring our entire lives to screens is definitely an adjustment, especially if you're a student in high school or college. The temptation to mute yourself, turn the camera off and scroll through Instagram or talk to your friends is definitely strong, but remember to double and triple-check if you're actually muted first. You don't want to be the kid getting caught trash-talking your class to the entire class. That is, if your teacher or professor can even begin the lecture without wasting at least fifteen minutes of the class trying to manage everyone's individual tech problems, sound issues and internet speeds. Zoom class is a challenge, but it's what needs to happen to flatten the curve!
Luckily, students and teachers haven't yet lost their sense of humor just because their academic life is now entirely on Zoom. Sure, students get to take class in their pajamas and watch lectures from bed, but that doesn't mean they're not going to get called out for not paying attention.
