As someone who once worked as a housekeeper at a fancy hotel, I can tell you a lot of dirty secrets that the hotel industry would rather I keep to myself (your sheets aren't washed, just turned inside out). In fact, pretty much every job I've ever worked -- and I've worked a lot of jobs -- has given me a peak behind the curtain that reveals a mound of icky secrets. Inside knowledge often isn't cute.

But I always wonder about the secrets I'm not privy to from the industries I've never been a part of. Well, I don't have to wonder anymore, as someone (VincentMetzger) on reddit asked people to share what secrets their jobs keep from the public. Here are some of my favorites!

About a quarter of all the gonorrhea we find is in the throat. And a new study suggests transmission from“deep kissing.”

Not necessarily a secret but it’s challenging to get other providers to do testing for all sites at risk.

Just a reminder, whenever you go for your routine STD testing, make sure every orifice that’s touched a pink part gets swabbed!
