Inviting yourself to someone's wedding is generally a bad move. Regardless of your intentions or how close you are, planning the guest list for a wedding is already incredibly stressful without people putting on the pressure to get added to the list.

On the other hand, given the massive stress of waiting on RSVPs and gauging who actually wants to attend a wedding, it can refreshing to have a handle on who is genuinely excited about the prospect of celebrating your marriage with you.

In a recent post on the Am I The A*shole subreddit, a woman asked if she was wrong for asking her mom's ex-girlfriend if she could come to her wedding.

AITA for asking my mother's ex girlfriend if I could come to her wedding?

In order to give context to a question that would otherwise seem bizarre, OP opened up by sharing about how she bonded with her mom's ex-girlfriend Rose during the five years they dated.

OP was only 7-years-old when she first met Rose, so it was a very formative time.
