Donald Trump is being urged by some of his advisors to dance with Caitlyn Jenner at his inaugural ball on Friday, according to Page Six. Despite being a trans woman and a celebrity, Jenner is a staunch Republican who has been vocal in her support of Trump in the past.
One member of Trump's administration told reporter Richard Johnson that dancing with Jenner would be "a brilliant idea," and that "the image of Trump dancing with Caitlyn would send a strong message that he supports gay rights and trans rights." You know what else would do that? Actually actively supporting gay and trans rights. Mind-blowing concept, right?
Jenner has already accepted Donald Trump's invitation to attend his inauguration. Although the President-elect's track record with LGBT issues is spotty at best, Jenner is insistent that Trump is an advocate for the trans community. Trump's Vice President Mike Pence is a noted homophobe who advocated for business owners to be able to deny LGBT customers.
Of course, this entire stunt would just be used photo-op. "A picture is worth a thousand tweets," commented the Republican on Trump's team. As for the big dance, Jenner’s publicist told Johnson that they "Can’t deal in hypotheticals. We’ll just have to wait and see."
