A group of Ohio State students sharing an old townhouse near campus thought a.) that their house was haunted, because they would find all their cabinets open in the morning, and b.) that there was a locked door in the basement leading to a utility room. Disconcertingly, this room was issuing lots of loud pinging and beeping noises. When maintenance workers arrived to remove the door (see video at bottom) and fix whatever machines were beeping, they discovered a clearly inhabited room belonging to "some random guy" they had no idea was living there:
