Michael Sam—All-American defensive lineman for the University of Missouri and likely NFL draft pick this May—announced last night that he is an "openly, proud gay man." Assuming his decision to go public with his sexuality doesn't lead to his not being drafted, this could make him the first openly gay man to play in the NFL and the 10,000th gay man to play in the NFL. So far, reactions from within the league has been shockingly positive.
