2016 has taken another great from us: Michael "Jim" Delligatti, the man behind everyone's favorite fast food power move, the Big Mac.

According to A.V. Club, the Big Mac was first dubbed "The Aristocrat" and then "Blue Ribbon Burger" before Delligatti landed on the name we all know it by today. And in an age where our health-obsessed culture has turned it's back on the salty embrace of fast food burger chains in favor of leafier options, it's important to remember that our country used to find some beauty in eating something you know is horrible for you. Those were the days.

So, if you're looking for a reason to indulge yourself in some of that sweet, sweet all-beef patty, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions – on a sesame seed bun, get yourself to the nearest McDonald's and order a burger in Delligatti's honor.

And while you're in line, take some solace in your fellow Big Mac fans who are similarly in mourning.
