The internet can be a cruel place if you're a woman, especially if you're a woman in the public eye, and extra-especially if you're a mom. Kylie Jenner is at the trifecta of all three—so the "self-made billionaire" (lol) has experienced her fair share of mom-shaming in the five months since she became a mom in February.
Recently, Kylie shared a photo of the back of Stormi's head and people got all up in their feelings about the fact that she had her baby's ears pierced.
This commenter was irate about it:
Then a bunch of other commenters came out in full force to defend the practice of piercing babies' ears:
People on Twitter quickly came to Kylie's defense:
Many people said they had their own ears pierced as babies and turned out fine (same! Although "fine" is an overstatement, but it's not my mom's fault for piercing my ears). And others noted that in many countries, it's common practice for babies to get their ears pierced at birth:
One person even made a case for getting baby's ears pierced younger, rather than when they're old enough to do more damage:
But others are firmly against the practice of babies getting their ears pierced:
This isn't a bad point. However, we can assume Kylie's got this taken care of (it's her baby after all, not ours).
If you ask me (no one has yet, but there's still time): Focusing on criticizing moms for every minor transgression they have allegedly committed is a distraction from far more important issues like: HOW CUTE STORMI'S LIL LEG IS??? OMGGGGGGG.
STAY FOCUSED, PEOPLE.
