It's not that uncommon for siblings to be in the delivery room when their younger siblings are born. And it's been happening for as long as there have been women having babies, which is a long time. So deal with it!

But one family took sibling involvement to another level by having their 12-year-old daughter actually assist in the delivery process. And the internet has a whole range of strong feelings about it.

Last week, mom Nikki Smith shared this incredible series of photos documenting her daughter, Jacee, helping bring her little brother in the world. The photos went viral, wracking up thousands of "heart" and "wow" emojis. You can see why:

Holy heart wow emojis Batman!!!!!

"Meet Jacee! This 12 year old helped deliver her baby brother and the emotions on her face is too amazing not to share! You're a superstar Jacee!" wrote Smith in the caption to the photos.

Reactions were mixed, and emotional. And though the majority were positive, a few people felt that this family had crossed a line, potentially "traumatizing" the 12-year-old girl.

One lady even argued that the experience "may ruin her."

HER HAIR IS PERFECT, OK?

And a few people stated that this experience is NOT for them:

Others are just LOL'ing at the realness of it all:

And many pointed out the "mental birth control" benefit of a tween witnessing the reality of childbirth up close.

But most commenters came to the family's defense, calling the photo "beautiful" and "empowering."

Many people said Jacee doesn't seem traumatized at all—instead, she's "overwhelmed with emotions."

And many moms shared about their own older children being in the delivery room and being far from traumatized by the experience.

Hey, no one said the "miracle of life" was supposed to be pretty!

Some think Jacee is now destined for a career in obstetrics.

And we can all stop worrying about Jacee. Because this lady who knows her from Bible school says the girl is doing just fine.

Smiling ear to ear? At Bible school? Okay, now we're worried about her!

Smith also shared this gorgeous photo of Jacee cradling her new baby brother in her arms:

She certainly doesn't look traumatized. And although this is not entirely relevant to the story, her hair is AMAZING.

It's not for us to say how Jacee will internalize this experience—time will tell. Maybe she'll become a doula, one day raise 8 children of her own and deliver them all herself. Or maybe she'll shy away from all things pregnancy and baby-related for the rest of her life. But one thing is clear: at 12, she's already cooler than most of us will ever be.
