A couple living in the Scottish town of Jedburgh is looking for a new live-in nanny to look after their two young children, and they're willing to pay the right candidate the equivalent of $64,000 per year, along with nearly a month in vacation and various other perks. It sounds like a pretty amazing job until you hear the catch: Their "haunted" home has driven five previous nannies away.
In a job posting on childcare.co.uk, the family is very up-front about this potential issue. After discussing the very normal duties of the position ("preparing breakfast, getting the children ready for school, dropping off and picking up from school and assisting after school," etc.), they take a moment to issue a warning about their house. Not only is it a "lovely, spacious, historic property in a remote spot with spectacular views," but it has a dark side:
Just who the hell would want to work in a place where "supernatural incidents" are a typical occurrence? Lots of people, it turns out. The Scottish Sun reports that after the posting went viral, the family received hundreds of applications from apparently unfazed nannies with a penchant for all things spooky.
“They’re really pleased to have so many different candidates to choose from to fill the vacancy,” a source told the newspaper. Yeah, but how many of them have ghostbusting experience?
