This past July, Amber Scorah's son died at a day care center. It was on her very first day back to work, and their first time apart for any length of time. In an essay for the New York Times, she writes about the pain of her loss, but also why she thinks it's so important for people to hear her story. Amber didn't want to leave Karl after just 3 months, but her work would not provide her with more paid leave, nor would they allow her take a couple more months off unpaid.
