Australian soap opera star Christie Hayes is a mother to two young boys with cool names: Hendrix and Harley. Having gone through the process of growing humans twice, Hayes is familiar with the trials and tribulations of pregnancy. In a #TBT photo, Hayes shared a bit about how she felt towards her body the first time she gave birth in 2014. Hayes did so along with a nude photo—that she posed for two days before going into labor.
A friend of mine messaged me today, slightly sad due to her weight gain as she is pregnant and is finding the rapid change of her body confronting. She wanted to know if I had felt similar, and what was normal for a new first time Mum, as forums are saying a million different things.
So, as today is #tbt, this nudie pic was taken the day before I went into labour. 48hrs later I was a first time mummy. As you can see, I'm totally on the rotund side and felt like a blue [whale emoji]. I was exhausted from no sleep the night before, but having my make up done and a keepsake pic from extraordinary photographer Bradley Patrick, is something I'm glad I have celebrated and embraced.
Don't be down about your weight if your expecting- enjoy it as much as you can. It's not important, celebrate your baby growing! The weight might fall off, it might slowly come off or it might stick around. Once you hold that little baby in your arms, none of that will matter. I promise you it's all worthwhile. Xx
Hayes is starting to get into the habit of openly sharing her thoughts on Instagram. Recently she gave the finger to some foul-eyed stranger.
The one on the left (my right) is to the man on the street that was super eye rolley when my little boy had a tantrum today.
ALL babies and toddlers lose it, but not all kids grow up to be ignorant dickheads as adults, why don't you think about THAT. I will raise my boys to be men of kindness, tolerance, strength and compassion.
The other hand is for you, all my friends, the parents out there doing their best, and the people of today who fight for peace and make the world a better place. Not to sound too Golden Girls theme song'y.. but thank you for being a friend.
If that's not proof enough that Hayes is cool, here are some other throwback photos from her.
Give thanks to Australian daytime TV for launching their careers.
