A conspiracy theory about the First Lady of the United States was born after this Facebook post alleging that Melania Trump uses a stand-in went viral:
"Is it me or during his speech today a decoy 'stood in' for Melania??" wrote actress Andrea Wagner Barton on Facebook. "And....why would the moron say 'my wife, Melania, who happens to be right here...' Seriously, watch very closely!"
The post features this video from CNN showing Melania (or should I say "Melania") standing alongside President Trump behind a pair of large sunglasses. Just for the record, oversized eyewear is not uncommon for the First Lady.
Wagner Barton also uploaded a series of photos, including screenshots from the video and an image of Mrs. Trump for comparison:
Commenters scrutinized the shape of Melania's nose and lips, claiming that her features look differently from the "real" Melania's.
Not to ruin the fun here, but these things could be easily explained when you consider makeup, angles and lighting. But hey, if Melania did hire a stand in, we certainly understand why— it's not easy being the FLOTUS to Trump's POTUS. Don't judge until you've taken a walk in her 6" high stilettos.
But for the most part, people were pretty split on if the first lady was using a stand-in or not:
God, internet. You are a weird, weird place.
But hey, Melania is hardly the first FLOTUS to be accused of hiring a doppelgänger to step in for her:
