Montreal couple Justine Smith and Francisco Peres regularly rent out rooms in their apartment on Airbnb, but were hoping to have the place to themselves on their wedding night. They forgot to turn off the instant booking feature, though, and one of the rooms was snagged by another couple. Smith hoped they'd agree to cancel, but the renters pleaded with her to let them stay, since it was New Year's Eve and they'd have almost no chance of finding another place. She hesitantly agreed because they promised to be "super chill," and after all, what's the worst that could happen?
The newlyweds returned at about 2:30 a.m. to find their apartment empty but noticeably messy. A little while later, after they'd gone to bed, Smith and Peres heard the renting couple return from their night out on the town, and begin cutting and snorting cocaine off the glass table in the living room. Then the renters started having audible sex in the next room, because of course they did.
The next morning Smith walked out into her living room and was greeted by empty cocaine baggies and two stangers sleeping on her couch—naked. She'd had enough, and she knocked on the door of the renters' room to tell them so. Luckily, they seemed embarrassed and quickly apologized. They cleaned up, and left Smith and Peres a five-star rating on Airbnb, an unsalvageable "cum-caked carpet," and a pretty great note.
All in all, not the most unromantic wedding night ever.
